Eat immediately and store any that are very ripe in the fridge.
Figs are a good source of Dietary Fiber.
- Make a fast appetizer by wrapping halved figs in thin-sliced bacon (half a slice per fig) and securing with a toothpick. Broil until the fat is rendered, the bacon crisp, and the fig hot.
- Fig trees have no blossoms on their branches. The blossom is inside of the fruit! Many tiny flowers produce the crunchy little edible seeds that give figs their unique texture.
- Many believe it was figs that were actually the fruit in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve, not apples.
